I am the author behind Linny at Home!

Hi!  I’m Linny! Welcome to my food blog where I document all the food I cook in my kitchen.

I always enjoyed cooking. Whether I was in class or work, I would think about what to eat constantly. I would plan out my meals and impatiently wait for the day to be over so I can go home, put on some comfy clothes and cook. My cooking really started to take off once Pandemic hit. I just met my husband at that time and we moved in almost immediately after we started dating. Our past time during the Pandemic was cooking together. It is our way to relax and enjoy our time together. To this day we still enjoy cooking and would cook for each other when one of us is busy.

My husband, Z, is the big meat type of guy. He is great on the BBQ and the man can make a mean steak. I’m more in into soups, sauces and dessert. I also like to cook Chinese, Japanese, and Korean dishes. Naturally we played to our advantage and started to explore cooking different cuisines and challenging ourselves to cook different foods. It is a blessing that we are not picky eaters. After the lock down, I want to continue my cooking journey and starting a blog is a way to document my cooking and baking journey. You will find mostly Chinese, Korean and Japanese cooking peppered in other cuisines as well. I also love to bake so you will also find dessert recipe as well!

Oh if I’m not in the kitchen you will probably find me snowboarding in the winter or hiking, biking and camping in the summer. My husband is a huge outdoors guy so naturally I got involved in his activities and I couldn’t be happier.

The beginning of my food blog journey!

How I started my food blog

To be honest, I’ve enjoyed cooking and since the pandemic I began cooking a lot more. I’ve started to experiment and cook more complex recipes or recreating recipes I find in restaurants etc. I love bringing food to a friend’s house or even to my parents. For them to try my food and seeing their smiles and compliments motivate me to cook and improve on my cooking. Not to mention, cooking is an important life skill and one I will happily share with people. Go through my blog as I share recipes from easy to complicated and everything in between.

— My Motto

There is no such thing as a perfect recipe!

I am a home cook, the only “training” I’ve had is through watching my mom cook. Then I’ve developed my own cooking skill living on my own. Home cooking is never about being perfect. The food doesn’t have to look like it’s from a restaurant to taste good. As a home cook, I’m always evolving so it’s always a work in progress. For every dish I cook, I find ways to improve the flavour, method or ingredients in the recipe. There is never ending for improving my recipes and sometimes it doesn’t always turn out the way I intended.  I want this blog to be about myself learning about food and appreciating the process of cooking while having fun along the way. I always have a pro tip section in my blogs that highlights the mistakes I made and share tips and some lazy tricks I learned along the way.
