Braised tofu

Equipment

  • wok

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp onion infused oil add a bit of the fried onion
  • 1-2 block tofu (medium firm to firm tofu)
  • 1-2 scallions sliced

Sauce

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 2 tsp oyster sauce
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp ground white pepper
  • ¼ cup warm water

Cornstarch mixture

  • tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions

Prep ingredients

  • Use a paper towel to dry the tofu. Break the tofu into bite size pieces, set aside.
  • Cut the scallions diagonally, set aside.
  • Combine soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar and white pepper together.
  • Put some cornstarch into a bowl with some water and mix. Now everything is prepped.

Cooking the tofu

  • In a wok, add onion infused oil and heat on medium high.
  • Break the tofu with your hands into the wok.
  • let it stir fry for about 5 minutes, add in scallions. Stir fry for another 2-3 minutes
  • Add in the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce and sugar. Add salt and white pepper.
  • Add warm water and let it simmer for another 5 minutes.
  • Combine cornstarch and water together.
  • Add cornstarch water into the pot to thicken the sauce.
  • Once the sauce is thicken then take it off the heat. You can eat it over rice!
